For several years now, robots have been being introduced to hotels around the world. The roles the robots take on include cleaning, delivery of amenities to guests, concierge services and check-in/check-out functions. The robots have been met with various reactions from hoteliers, guests and employees. With Covid-19, the need for robots has shifted somewhat with hoteliers looking to cut costs, as well as the push back from high unemployment among hotel workers. In any case, the robotics initiative continues with a prediction that by 2030 25% of the hotel workforce will be staffed by robots.
